Powerpoint Presentation on Virtue EthicsA virtue is a trait of character that is socially valuable and a moral virtue is a morally valuable trait of character( Beauchamp and Childress, Page 27)
Aristotle did not think of ethics as a set of moral principles but rather the actions of moral character. Hence his goal was to develop moral charcter or characters who possed virtues
Andre Comte-Sponville beleived that viture could be taught - not so much by books as by example. The value of written material was to assist us "to try to understand what we should do, what we should be, and how we should live, and thereby guage, at least intellectually, the distance that seperates us from these ideals."
Our children must see us more than non-bigoted, non-racist, or non-sexist. We must show them that we are anti-bigoted, anti-racist, anti-sexist, actually involved in our community working against such intolerance and hatred and standing up for social justice.-Barbara Coloroso 2005
